Letter from the Fire Chief

As Chief, I would like to welcome you to the Wise County ESD #1 webpage. I hope you find this site a valuable resource as a citizen and visitor to Wise County ESD #1. Please take the opportunity to scan through our various pages to learn more about our mission and the many things our department has to offer.

Wise County ESD #1 has one mission, "With Pride and Integrity, Wise County ESD #1 is committed to providing the highest level of service to our community through Training, Dedication, Professionalism, and Community Involvement."  We hold this mission through the fundamental principle that our members are the foundation of the organization. Our foundation is built on a set of  4 Core Values: Pride, Integrity above All, Dedication to Serve and Commitment to Train.  Our firefighters understand that training is the single most important element for a safe, professional, and effective fire department.

Wise County ESD #1 is a combination Volunteer fire department that services the city of Boyd and surrounding emergency service district.  Our current roster of 2 part time command staff and 21 volunteers, serves the community each day by providing Basic Life Support, Fire Suppression, Fire Prevention, Rescue Capabilities and community outreach.  Our firefighters operate in 12 hour shifts.  Our shifts consist of a 12 hour day shift and a 12 hour night shift.

To ensure our citizens are protected, we operate a full fleet of apparatus.

We have an ESD board of Commissioners.  Due to the continued support of our ESD board, we are a progressive department working on more adequately serving the citizens and visitors of Wise County ESD #1.

Thank you for visiting our page,

Jason Paradise / Fire Chief
